There is something wonderful about seeing the countryside from 4500 feet in the air. The distance and direction you travel depends on the wind speed and weather. Doing the Job
The most common interest in any vacuum is, “does it do the job?”. In the case of the Dyson DC 28, I can say that it does do the job, and it does very well. We have 3 dogs in the house so there is a lot of hair and occasional accidents. The DC 28 does a great job of getting the hair off of the carpet and tile. As far as accidents are concerned, the Dyson is very helpful in combination with some scrubbing and Oxyclean.

Attachments
The DC28 has a disconnect on the handle part which can be used to vacuum tight areas such as the inside of a smaller closet or behind the couch. This part of the vacuum also comes with a few attachments for different purposes. One of the attachments is a flat piece that sticks very close to the surface when used. It is very effective and seems to enhance the sucking power of the vacuum. Another attachment is a narrow angled piece which can be used for very tight spaces.

The Electrical Cord
One thing I don’t like about this particular vacuum is that the cord has to be wrapped when the vacuum is being put away. This is a minor inconvenience since it takes a little effort, but if you are vacuuming in the first place you probably don’t mind a little extra work.

Another problem with the design of the cord wrap is that the disconnect part of the vacuum cannot be used when the cord is wrapped so you will have to unwrap it entirely. Again, this is a minor inconvenience and not really a make or break factor. It would be better if the cord can be wrapped with a spring loaded design inside of the vacuum.

The Hose
Another minor complaint I have is that the hose for the disconnected vacuum piece is very tight and it takes some effort to get it stretched out enough to reach longer distances without having to move the entire vacuum. However, you will eventually adapt to the tighter hose a=once you learn to pull on it harder.

The Weight

The first thing you will notice is that this vacuum is very weighty. This is an excellent quality to have in a vacuum because it can keep as close to the ground as possible at all times. It’s weightiness adds to the quality and power of the vacuum.

The Power

Once you hit the “power button” you will instantly be blown away by this vacuum. Not because it is too loud, but because you can tell it is really pulling the dirt and anything else in it’s path. Just be careful if you have any small pets, if you find that they are missing, check the inside of your Dyson.

Overall this is a very sturdy vacuum and very high quality. Most importantly, it vacuums very well and it’s very powerful. It is also a very flexible vacuum so you can reach tight spaces as well as cover a large rooms with ease. So yes, I can recommend this product with confidence.

For some of you who smoke forms of tobacco, you may notice that the deeper you breathe while smoking, the more irritating the smoke can be to your lungs. For some people this is more bothersome than for others. Newer smokers, especially, are bothered by the impurities in the smoke. Interestingly enough, many people don’t know that there are other options. Physically burning tobacco works to allow the nicotine to go into the lungs. The gas you breathe in, however is a mixture of carbon, air, nicotine and hundreds of other chemicals depending on the form you smoke it in. Vaporizers like the trippy stick have become increasingly popular as a way to control what you are breathing into your lungs.

The first two things you need to figure out are the general area where you want your electronic device and the location of the plug you are trying to reach. Next you need to find the distance between these two objects at right angles relative to the floor. The reason for this is that behind your wall are most likely studs. Not good looking gentlemen mind you, but wooden 2x4s that run vertically and sometimes also horizontally behind your wall. Studs are there for support of both your house, and the drywall connected to it. Because of this, you will find yourself having a very difficult (though not impossible) time trying to get a cable to run diagonally through your wall. Running the cable in right angles is much easier, but requires longer cables. If your TV is going to be located directly above your plugs, this will not be a problem, and you can simply measure the height difference plus extra for working room.

It is important to check the length of the cable before you start cutting into your wall to make sure that there is plenty of room even in the event you need to move things around a little bit. For instance, if a TV is connected to a Blue-Ray player sitting in a cabinet, but there is not enough slack in the wires to pull the cabinet away from the wall, you will have a difficult time reaching the back of the blue ray player, or even plugging everything in for that matter.

Next you should locate the studs behind your wall. Do not try to drill a hole where a stud is located. You can buy a stud-finder, but it is easy to listen as you knock firmly on the wall. The hollower or lower pitch sounds come from the gaps between the studs. Once you have located the appropriate spaces, mark them with a pencil and drill a hole big enough for the wires, and maybe a little finger space. Drop the wires from high to low. If the holes are directly in line with each other vertically, you will be able to reach in and grab the wire as it passes by. If they are not right above each other, you can use a wire hanger or pipe cleaner to grab the cables and pull them through. The estimated time for this project is an hour, but much less if you are comfortable with what you are doing. Good luck, and let me know how it goes.

By the way, if you are trying to go from one side of the room to the other, you are probably going to have to reference some home improvement sites, so you can tear out your drywall, run the cables, then replace the drywall. I don’t recommend it, but anything goes in the world of home theater.

What is an HDMI Switch?

An HDMI Switch is a device that can extend the number of devices that can be plugged into an HDMI port. They allow, for instance, an HDTV with only one HDMI input to have a Blu-Ray player, gaming consoles, and computer all plugged into the same port and all switchable at any moment. The only action is powering the switch.

Is a power cord needed or will the cables themselves power the device?

HDMI cables require a certain amount of power to carry the signal to its destination. Most devices with HDMI output provide that power as part of the normal operation of the device, although HDMI switchers also need power provided to them; they include a repeater in their internal workings, which takes the signal and retransmits it, allowing the signal to travel farther. Some switches try to remain small and portable by drawing power from the device plugged into them through the HDMI cable. In my experience, this is not a good idea. By using some of the bandwidth provided by the cables for power alone, you weaken the overall signal being sent to the output device; for instance, watching a Blu-Ray movie on my HDTV while using a self-powered HDMI switch caused audio clipping, video artifacts, and sometimes complete loss of the signal. The other option is to include an external power source, such as a 5V DC converter that plugs directly into an outlet. The advantage of the external power source, is that the issues caused by the self-powered splitters do not show up in these.

What is the difference between a Switch and a Splitter?

A Switch is used to allow the connection of multiple devices to an HDMI port. A splitter is the opposite – they allow a single device to be split to multiple displays. For example, having your cable box going to 2 TVs which are in different rooms will allow you to watch the same thing in both rooms.

Is there a device which can act as a Switch AND a Splitter?

An HDMI switch isn’t only used for sending multiple inputs to one output; some more complex units have the ability to send data the other direction. For instance, if you have multiple HDTVs set up around a room, at a bar or other place of business, for instance, you may want to be able to control multiple devices and assign them to different displays. There are some HDMI switchers that allow this. A 4×4 HDMI Switch can send the signal from any of the 4 devices on to up to 4 displays. For example, a sports bar might want to show three games on twelve televisions. Three 4-to-4 switches could be used to link four HDTVs to one cable box, allowing the owner to set just three channels, rather than having to walk around the bar changing each one individually. Devices can also be independently assigned to any of the displays. So you can have a Blu-ray player playing on 2 displays and the cable box playing on the other 2.

How Can I Share Devices with Multiple TVs?

It is possible to share devices with multiple displays by using a Matrix HDMI switch. For example, a 4×2 matrix HDMI switch is capable of sharing 4 devices between two different displays. This is essentially a switch and a splitter all in one solution.
